The Birth of a Bear

  1. Conception Midnight thoughts, new fur and my own pattern
  2. Surgery: The fur fabric then has the pattern drawn out on it and is ready to be cut out either with a scalpel or very sharp, pointed scissors. The surgical manipulation completed, the sutures have to be inserted! This takes the form of first tacking the pieces together to make sure the fur does not get caught in the seems and then machining if the bear is large enough or hand sewing for the little bears.
  3. E.N.T clinic: The next step is for the eyes to be inserted, the nose to be Covered in leather and the ears to be glued on to leather.
  4. Orthopaedic clinic: The parts then have their joints inserted. All arms and legs have discs and cotter pins The neck joint may vary from disc and cotter pin to swivel joins or ones which enable the heads to turn to the music.
  5. Time for stuffing!!! Only the best non inflammable stuffing is used and at this point the musical boxes are inserted.
  6. Back to surgery! Time now for all the seams to be secured with the help of a curved needle. The ears to be sewn on with a leather needle.
  7. Cosmetic surgery! The features are defined for individual effects. Threads are positioned and pulled tight and all the features are cut out with very small, sharp pointed scissors. Lastly the English Rose is secured behind the right ear. The bear is then named, photographed and catalogued.

AND SO A BEAR IS BORN
